Rh Factor Rhogam Injection

Rh Factor Rhogam Injection

rhogam shot for pregnancy

A simple finger stick blood test is done to determine your hemoglobin (red blood cell count) and Rh factor. If your blood is found to be Rh negative, you will need to receive an injection of (Rh immunoglobulin injection) Rhogam which is an additional charge. 15% of women in the general population are Rh negative.  Rhogam prevents antibodies from being formed in your blood that have the potential to cross the placenta in later pregnancies destroying fetal blood cells which can lead to fetal death. Unless you are absolutely certain the father is Rh negative, it is imperative you receive the Rhogam injection with every pregnancy.
