Abstinence
Abstinence means that you do not engage in any sexual activity at all.  As a method of birth control, abstinence is 100% effective. If sex play is permitted where there is no vaginal intercourse, it is about 99% effective. The advantages of abstinence is that no medications or devices are required, there is no chance of acquiring a sexually transmitted disease, and it is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. The disadvantage of abstinence is that it is difficult for many people to abstain for prolonged periods of time. 

Remember to have other methods of back up available to protect yourself against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases in case you stop practicing abstinence.
